Moskvaer Launches Crowdfunding Campaign on to Further Project’s Development

Bilingual online-magazine Moskvaer was founded in 2015 by a Moscow group of media specialists and is announcing the start of a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of developing the project further.

The crowdfunding campaign was launched on March 15, 2016 on the biggest Russian crowdfunding platform – The Moskvaer team is planning to collect 350,000 rubles by June 2016.

“Our goal is to increase the quantity and raise the quality of content. Currently, we don’t have enough manpower to tell our readers about everything that’s worth their attention. Our goal is to develop the project so as to have as many people in Russia and all over the world as possible to see the city in a new light, without the prism imposed by time and the historical context of stereotypes. We believe that this will benefit Moscow and will help in its multifaceted development.”–says co-founder of the project, Yana Zadorozhnaya.

The majority of funds will be spent on content creation (bringing in new authors, translators, and photographers), and also on Moskvaer’s new YouTube project–“The Faces of Moscow”.

Until now, the online-magazine has existed only with the help of volunteers–authors, translators, editors, and designers from Russia, USA, the UK and other parts of the world.

“Moskvaer is not just a city magazine: We’re showcasing what is unlikely to be shown in the news, about the life and character of Moscow, the mentality of Muscovites, and about people who are changing this city and how this city is changing us.”–says co-founder of the project, Dustin Taylor.

During its 6 month existence, Moskvaer has gained an international audience of more than 70,000 people from all over the world–from Canada to Central Asia–with about 100 articles published. In order to continue growing, the project now needs support.

“We want to cover more topics, however due to a lack of resources we have to leave something out. In order to change these circumstances, we launched a crowdfunding campaign and opened the doors to mutually advantageous cooperation with like-minded people.”–says Moskvaer’s representatives.
